Apple has revealed through a filing that it wants eight specific Samsung smartphones to be barred from being sold in the US.
The filing comes after Samsung was dealt a massive lost against Apple recently in their court battle with the iPhone-maker in San Jose, California.
Apple wants the following smartphones made by Samsung to be banned in the US:
The jury actually found 28 Samsung products in infringement of at least one Apple patent. However, Apple decided to go with these eight.
It’s interesting to note, too, that these devices have been in the market for a long time. That doesn’t mean, though, that they are not selling well anymore. Just like the iPhone 4, these devices have seen big discounts as they are replaced by newer products.
Another development worth mentioning is that Apple is opposing a request from Samsung to lift the preliminary injunction which banned the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from being sold in the US.
The jury did not find the device infringing on Apple’s design patents. Apple successfully got Judge Lucy Koh to ban the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the US based on its design patents.
Furthermore, the ban, which was for the Wi-Fi-only version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, is now requested by Apple to include the cellular version of the device.
The hearing for injunctions is to be held this September 20.
Meanwhile, here is Apple’s tally of the devices it wants banned in the US and the patents the jury judge they violated:
